The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that the Capital Market Committee (CMC) is set to convene virtually on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, for its first-quarter session. The meeting aims to address challenges, foster innovation, and facilitate informed decision-making to advance the Nigerian capital market.
Key issues affecting the capital market landscape will take centre stage during the session, with a focus on presenting updates on major achievements by various technical committees, SEC said in a statement yesterday.
The committees, including the Commodities Ecosystem Implementation Committee and the E-Dividend and DCS, play pivotal roles in driving the implementation processes outlined in the Capital Market Master Plan.
The CMC serves as a vital platform for engagement among SEC, capital market operators, trade groups, and other stakeholders.
It provides a forum for robust discussions on factors shaping the market’s growth and efficiency, addressing pertinent concerns, and charting the course for its future development.
Expected attendees include CEOs of registered capital market firms, representatives from key financial sector regulatory agencies, and leaders of prominent market entities such as NGX, NASD, FMDQ Group Plc, AFEX, NCX, and CSCS. Additionally, a special interface session with the press is scheduled for the following day, April 19th, 2024, via webinar.
Attendance at both events is strictly by invitation, with participants expected to be seated by 9:45 am.
